Bill of quantities definition

What does Bill of quantities mean?

The document often provided by a contractor setting out prices against units and items.

A bill of quantities will be provided with the contractors' tender for works and then usually forms part of the contract documents. The list of prices will be sued to calculate work done and additional work required and payment for the same.
