Where a carrier of passengers1 is liable for loss or damage resulting from the death of or injury to a passenger2 he will also be liable for loss or damage resulting from the total or partial loss of, or damage to, articles which the passenger had on him or with him as hand luggage and for the loss of, or damage to, animals which the passenger had brought with him3, although he will be relieved of this liability:
