40.     Ofcom's duty to give effect to obligations relating to the provision of mobile satellite services.

Ofcom1 must carry out its functions under the Wireless Telegraphy Act 20062 so as to give effect to the obligations of the United Kingdom relating to the provision of mobile satellite services3. Ofcom must, in particular, pursuant to its powers under the Wireless Telegraphy Act 2006 grant a selected applicant4, if requested, the authorisation necessary for the provision of complementary ground components5
