The Secretary of State1 may provide for fees to be charged in respect of the exercise of a function in connection with immigration or nationality2. The functions in respect of which fees are to be charged are to be specified in a fees order3.
For any specified4 fee, regulations made by the Secretary of State are to set (1) if the fee (or any part of it) is to be a fixed amount, that amount; (2) if the fee (or any part of it) is to be calculated by reference to an hourly rate or other factor, the hourly rate
