447. Procedure for bringing a charge; and the amendment, substitution and addition of charges.

The procedure for bringing a charge against a person1 is that a charge sheet must be prepared2, the commanding officer3 of that person must sign the charge sheet, and a copy of the signed charge sheet must be served by hand on the person charged either by the commanding officer or by a person authorised by him4.

When a charge is brought by the Director of Service Prosecutions5, the Director must provide a copy of the charge sheet to the court administration officer6 as soon as practicable after service of the charge sheet on the accused7.
