5: PRIVATE BURIAL PLACES17 Private burial placesBurial places can be provided without any direct statutory authority, provided that no nuisance is committed or any covenant infringed, and subject to planning permission and any restrictions in any Order in Council requiring ministerial approval1. A burial authority2 may contribute towards any other person’s expenses in providing or maintaining a cemetery in which the inhabitants of the authority’s area may be buried3. Matters other than those controlled by legislation (for example, any question as to who may be buried in private burial places and the control of religious services and memorials
