294 Duration and terms of the agreement

Agreements were granted for ten years with a break available after five years. Although the scheme closed to applications in 2011, there remain agreements which will continue to run until their expiry.

Under the terms of the agreement the farmer had to follow various management prescriptions including retaining and maintaining traditional field boundaries, protecting archaeological and geological features, maintaining traditional farm buildings which are still weatherproof, tidying up unsightly farm rubbish, looking after trees and consulting with Natural Resources Wales before doing any work that could affect the landscape or wildlife of the farm.
