The Arbitration and Mediation Center of the Santiago Chamber of Commerce (CAM Santiago) and the Dispute Resolution Board Foundation (DRBF) have unveiled the Spanish translation of the ‘Dispute Board Manual: Guide to Best Practices and Procedures’. The dispute boards are a system for the resolution of disputes, in which an independent panel of experts helps the parties to resolve their disagreements through informal assistance and the issuance of recommendations or decisions.

The Milan Chamber of Arbitration (CAM) has published its 2026 Annual Report, reporting significant growth in arbitration activity during 2025. CAM received 198 new arbitration requests, a 47% increase on 2024, while the total value of disputes rose 39% to more than €1.89 billion. The average duration of ordinary arbitration proceedings fell to 11.9 months, with 19.2% of cases involving at least one foreign party. Corporate disputes remained the most common category, followed by procurement and construction contracts, supply agreements, and consultancy disputes. Simplified arbitration accounted for 54 requests, representing 27.3% of all filings, with proceedings averaging 5.1 months and intended to provide a faster and lower-cost alternative to ordinary arbitration. Of the cases concluded in 2025, 45.54% were settled and 40.18% resulted in arbitral awards. CAM also made 316 arbitrator appointments during the year, 27% of which were women.

The Centro de Arbitragem e Mediação da Câmara de Comércio Brasil-Canadá (CAM-CCBC) has approved its new 2025 Arbitration Rules, adopted by the Deliberative Council on 16 October 2025 and in force since 3 November 2025. The update replaces the 2022 Rules and modernises the institution’s procedures through the creation of a Permanent Challenge Committee — a standing body established to decide challenges to arbitrators — aimed at strengthening impartiality, efficiency, and predictability. The 2025 Rules also tighten arbitrator nomination and confirmation procedures, formalise electronic communications and reinforce confidentiality and data-protection standards.

The Center for Arbitration and Mediation of the Brazil-Canada Chamber of Commerce (CAM-CCBC) has announced a comprehensive update to its arbitration fee schedule, set to take effect from 1 January 2025. The new framework introduces a range of modifications, including a revised structure for registration fees, administration fees and arbitrator honoraria. Notably, the update introduces a segregated fee payment option for cases with significant disparities in claim values, allowing parties to pay based on their individual claim amounts. The schedule also establishes reduced fees for expedited arbitration procedures in disputes valued under R$3,000,000 and outlines specific costs for emergency arbitrator proceedings. Additionally, the update provides detailed guidelines for fee adjustments in cases of early termination and introduces a system of monetary correction based on the IPCA index for payments to arbitrators and experts, applicable to arbitrations initiated from 2025 onwards.
