HM Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) has published a thematic review of the work of youth offending services during the coronavirus (COVID–19) pandemic, following HM Inspectorate of Probation (HMIP) inspection. The action plan highlights a list actions taken in response to the recommendations provided by HMIP. Recommendations include HMPPS developing ‘effective communication systems between custodial settings, courts and Youth Custody Service partner agencies so that children are not disadvantaged’. HMPPS has welcomed the recommendations and completed ‘internal casework review to promote effective resettlement work across related agencies and departments’.
