A code of practice relating to the conduct of criminal investigations by service police officers has been made1. The effects of the code, which sets out the manner in which service policemen are to record, retain and reveal to the Director of Service Prosecutions2 material3 obtained in service investigations4 which may be relevant to the investigation, and related matters, are:
(1) a failure by a service policeman5 to comply with any provision of the code does not in itself render him liable to proceedings for a service offence6;
(2) in all proceedings before
