We know that when lawyers are at the heart of decision making, better and fairer decisions are made. By making lawyers more effective, we are helping them to create growth and, critically, progress the rule of law.
The rule of law is the foundation for the development of peaceful, equitable and prosperous societies. We believe there are four key areas that form the umbrella protection of the rule of law.
The stronger each of these components are, the greater the rule of law.
All people, businesses and governments are accountable, and the law applies to everyone in the same way, no matter who you are.
Laws must be clear, precise, understandable and accessible while protecting fundamental human rights.
An independent judiciary ensures courts are able to decide cases on the law, free from political or commercial pressure.
There must be a practical way to seek and receive timely justice or redress through the legal system.
What do we do about it?
We combine AI, technology and tools and put them in the hands of legal and tax professionals. This makes them more effective, getting clients what they need faster and freeing them up with more time for pro-bono work.
Publishing laws and enabling access to justice is at our core. Each time we publish a case, release a decision or productivity tool or cover a legal development, we’re working to expand the umbrella protection of the rule of law.
The LexisNexis Rule of Law Foundation is our non-profit entity that seeks to independently measure and invest in programmes with key partners that enhance the rule of law worldwide.
We research topics across the UK legal sector, bringing together data and expert insight to explore developments in the legal system and their impact on legal professionals and the people they support.
We sponsor of rule of law charity awards and events, fundraise for charities and organise discussions on the intersection between rule of law and the UK legal sector.
Utilising the core skills of the vast array of talent at LexisNexis, we connect employees with rule of law volunteer opportunities through the RELX cares programme. This includes our colleagues volunteering to give advice at law clinics, deliver training, website design and hackathons.
