The Department of Health and Social Care has announced that clinically extremely vulnerable individuals in England will receive new guidance which is tailored to their lifestyle to help them reduce their risk from the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The new guidance will support individuals to take protective actions in their everyday lives while maintaining normality where possible. The clinically extremely vulnerable group consists of individuals with specific health conditions, certain cancers and organ transplant recipients. Health and Social Care Secretary, Matt Hancock, said ‘Today’s announcement will mean every person most at risk from serious outcomes from the virus will have specific advice targeted to local levels, which they can follow to keep themselves as safe as possible, while ensuring they can also keep as much normality in their lives as possible’.
