David Whittaker, QC

David Whittaker has considerable experience in most forms of serious crime. He is regularly instructed to defend in complex fraud cases brought by the SFO and FCA; receives private instructions in general crime; and is increasingly instructed on behalf of corporate bodies and their officers in Health & Safety investigations. In fraud, he was instructed in Operation Tabernula (representing a trader charged with insider dealing) and Operation Cotton (representing defendant in the largest land banking scheme). In general crime in he has recently secured acquittals for two professionals charged separately with coercive and controlling behaviour in a marriage; in R v H he successfully represented a lead defendant in a large cocaine conspiracy; and a banking employee was acquitted of a sexual offence. He also defends in serious motoring cases. In Health & Safety matters he recently secured the acquittal of a building company charged over the death of a sub-contractor and he has represented other companies following pleas of guilty and, also, care home providers charged under the 2014 Health and Social Care Act Regulations.
