Christopher Stephens is a Partner at Freeths LLP, based in Bristol, with more than 20 years' experience advising farmers, landowners and rural businesses across the South West of England.
Chris began his career specialising in agricultural property and, over time, has developed a broader strategic land practice focused on residential development projects, acting exclusively for landowners. He advises on land acquisitions and disposals, land management and wider land structuring matters, as well as the range of agreements used to bring strategic land forward for development, including Conditional Contracts, Option Agreements, Promotion Agreements and Collaboration Agreements.
Having qualified as a solicitor in 2005, Chris joined Freeths from Womble Bond Dickinson, where he held a senior position within the firm's Residential Development team.
Chris is a Fellow of the Agricultural Law Association and a member of the Country Land and Business Association (CLA).
Alongside his legal practice, Chris brings valuable commercial insight gained through his family's longstanding involvement in residential housebuilding. This combination of legal expertise and real-world industry experience enables him to provide practical, commercially focused advice that reflects current market conditions and trends.
