Pieter Erasmus
Pieter is a senior associate in the Intellectual Property Group in London, with a focus on regulatory and commercial matters primarily in the life sciences and healthcare sectors.
His experience includes advising on the regulation of pharmaceuticals, medical devices, general healthcare services, clinical trials, marketing and advertising of health products, borderline products, food and beverages (including food supplements and novel foods), cosmetic products, and legislative drafting in the healthcare context. A recent focus area is advising on all aspects relating to digital health, including software as medical device, the impact of AI, and telemedicine.
His practice further includes transactional IP work such as complex licensing deals and collaborations.
Pieter contributes to leading publications, and, alongside Sally Shorthose, is co-editor of the 'Guide to EU and UK Pharmaceutical Regulatory Law' (Kluwer Law International), which is written entirely by the Bird & Bird team across Europe.
