Hammad Baig (BA (Hons), LLB (Hons), BVC, MIEx) is a barrister, arbitrator, and mediator at 33 Bedford Row, practising in indirect tax law, customs and excise, commercial litigation, insolvency, and international trade law. His strategic approach and litigation experience have earned him a strong reputation.

Hammad has appeared in several notable cases, including Babylon Farm Ltd v HMRC [2021] UKUT 224 (TCC) and Thomas Perring v HMRC [2021] UKFTT 110 (TC), where he successfully argued VAT and procedural issues. He also acted in Koza Ltd v Koza Altin Isletmeleri AS [2023] EWHC 629 (Ch) in relation to costs and ancillary issues, a complex international corporate dispute. He continues to be involved as an adviser in the case both to the director and the company.
 
He is regularly invited to speak at legal international conferences. Over the past few years he has spoken on arbitration in Kenya, Tanzania, Zanzibar, and Uganda, contributing to legal capacity-building and cross-border collaboration.
 
Hammad is a member of the Customs Practitioners Group, VAT Practitioners Group, Revenue Bar Association, and the Institute of Export and International Trade (MIEx). Post-Brexit, he was commissioned by Tolley (LexisNexis) to update the Customs Duties division of De Voil Indirect Tax Service, and contributed to the Finance Act Handbook 2023.
 
Prior to joining the Bar, Hammad ran international businesses in bulk electronics export and jewellery manufacturing, giving him unique commercial insight into cross-border legal issues.
