The EEA Agreement entered into force in 1994. This Practice Note provides an overview of EEA competition law and State aid law, including the relationship between EEA and EU competition law. The Practice Note outlines the operation of the EEA and European Free Trade Association (EFTA), the role of the EFTA institutions in enforcing EEA competition law and the interaction between the EFTA and EU institutions. The procedure applied by the EFTA institutions in relation to competition law is also detailed.
