This Practice Note considers the background and relevant factors which have impacted on the development of partners’ remuneration structures over time. It then looks at three key models for designing a partnership remuneration system, being the lockstep model, the performance-based model and the ‘hybrid’ model and considers the advantages and disadvantages of each of these.
