This Practice Note examines the relevant laws and practical points involved in raising jurisdictional objections in Nigeria. It also considers the attitude of the Nigerian courts to such objections. Finally, it analyses the courts’ approach to applications for injunctions to stop arbitrations commenced in Nigeria.

This Practice Note examines the enforcement procedure for arbitral awards in Nigeria under Nigerian arbitration laws. It examines the position both prior to the enactment of the Arbitration and Mediation Act, 2023 and after the enactment of the new law. The Practice Note considers how enforcement is affected by conventions to which Nigeria is signatory, and the judicial attitude towards, and process for, enforcing and challenging domestic and foreign awards.
