Richard Power
Richard Power is a Partner in Fieldfisher’s London office, specialising in complex litigation and arbitration.
Richard has more than 25 years’ experience resolving complex cross-border and domestic disputes through arbitration, litigation, mediation and other forms of ADR. He advises on a broad range of commercial, corporate and financial disputes, with a particular focus on the energy sector, including oil and gas, power, renewables, the energy transition and climate change risk, including greenwashing claims.
Richard also has experience in judicial reviews and regulatory disputes, investor-state disputes including Energy Charter Treaty claims, and general risk management. He has acted for a wide range of clients, including oil and gas and energy companies such as Scottish Power, Community Windpower and TotalEnergies, as well as financial institutions including The Royal Bank of Scotland and MEFIC.
Alongside extensive litigation experience in the High Court and Court of Appeal, Richard has arbitrated disputes under major institutional and ad hoc rules, including ICC, LCIA, SCC, UNCITRAL and ICDR rules. He has Higher Rights of Audience in the English courts and regularly draws on his advocacy experience in arbitration and litigation.
Before joining Fieldfisher, Richard was a Partner at Clyde & Co. He previously joined Clyde & Co from Berwin Leighton Paisner, where he was Co-Head of International Arbitration and Head of Energy Disputes.
