Sophie is recognised as one of the UK’s leading immigration and nationality law experts, with a career spanning nearly 30 years and ranked in Band 1 as ‘Star Individual’ by legal directories such as Chambers & Partners UK, Chambers Global HNW and Legal 500 for more than two decades. 

As a practitioner (most recently as Senior Partner & Head of UK Practice at the leading boutique immigration firm Laura Devine Solicitors, previously at Eversheds and CMS) she has focussed on complex and discretionary applications for a diverse range of clients, from start-ups to SMEs and multinational corporations, from families and high-net-worth individuals to founders and entertainers.

Renowned for her wider work to support best practice and policy development, Sophie is a longstanding Trustee (and former Chair, 2007-2012) of the Immigration Law Practitioners’ Association. She is a regular conference speaker/trainer and frequent media commentator on UK immigration topics, she has given expert oral evidence to the House of Commons Home Affairs Select Committee and House of Lords Justice and Home Affairs Committee on a number of occasions, and has managed countless written evidence submissions to the Home Office, the Migration Advisory Committee and others.
