Tim Williamson
Tim Williamson’s regulatory practice is known for the breadth of work undertaken, as well as the specialist nature of instructions.
Tim is described by Legal 500 as a 'clever' lawyer who complements his “expertise” in health and safety cases with a 'focus on the sports sector'. Tim is regularly instructed to advise and defend in complex investigations and/or prosecutions conducted by the police, Health and Safety Executive and the Environment Agency. Tim is at the forefront of work advising clients in the agriculture sector in response to Environment Agency investigations, prosecutions and enforcement activity.
Tim has also carved a niche working with sports clubs and professional sports leagues in connection with regulatory matters. Tim regularly advises Directors of football clubs facing criminal or regulatory sanctions. Such cases typically involve the Football Association and a charge of ‘misconduct,’ or the local authority conducting a criminal investigation alleging breaches of the ground Safety Certificate.
Tim frequently delivers training on such matters to the Football Safety Officers’ Association and Rugby Union Safety Association. The regulatory team at Clarke Willmott LLP is a long-standing member of the Health and Safety Lawyers’ Association. More recently, Tim has joined the Faculty at the Asian School of Economics in Calcutta, India to address the regulation of businesses in the United Kingdom.
