Emma Thompson

I am a Senior Knowledge Lawyer in the Commercial and Technology team at Stevens & Bolton. My career began at Norton Rose, where I trained and qualified as a Commercial and Intellectual Property lawyer. During my training contract, I completed a seat in Singapore, which gave me invaluable international experience and exposure to cross-border commercial deals.

Following private practice, I joined BP's downstream legal team in Sunbury with a focus on advertising and marketing issues. Working in-house at a global organisation provided a unique perspective on the practical legal and commercial challenges faced by businesses. I advised on a wide range of advertising, marketing, sponsorship and brand-related matters, supporting high-profile campaigns (including the Brazil World Cup) and helping to manage legal risk in a fast-paced commercial environment.

I subsequently joined Stevens & Bolton, where I now combine my private practice and in-house experience as a Senior Knowledge Lawyer. In this role, I support lawyers and clients on developments across commercial contracts, technology, data protection and digital regulation. I have a particular interest in emerging technologies and the evolving regulatory landscape, and I regularly write on legal developments affecting businesses in the UK and internationally.
