Simon Anderson

Simon Anderson is recognised as a leading barrister in occupational disease and employer’s liability litigation, with particular expertise in occupational stress and psychiatric injury claims.

His practice encompasses claims arising from bullying, discrimination, harassment, overwork, assaults, protected disclosures, vicarious trauma, nervous shock and suicide, as well as cases involving substantial loss of earnings and foreshortened careers. He is regularly instructed in matters spanning the clinical, educational, industrial, military, policing and sports sectors, and appears at inquests where civil liability issues arise.

He is also frequently instructed in claims involving chronic pain and functional disorders, including CRPS, fibromyalgia, FND, SSD and ME/CFS, where allegations of malingering, exaggeration or fundamental dishonesty often arise.

His wider practice includes asbestos-related disease, respiratory and skin conditions, HAVS, NIHL and military NIHL, together with emerging silicosis litigation.

A skilled trial advocate and cross-examiner, Simon is trusted by unions, national law firms and professional clients, including barristers and solicitors pursuing their own claims. He appeared for the successful claimant in the leading s.33 Limitation Act 1980 authority, Carroll v Chief Constable of Greater Manchester Police, and has substantial experience in defending claims against allegations of fraud and fundamental dishonesty.
