The concept of ‘ghosting’ has migrated from the realm of online dating into the employment sphere, where it now describes the abrupt cessation of communication by a candidate or resignation of an employee without explanation. In the workplace context, ghosting may arise at any stage of the employment lifecycle: a candidate may fail to attend an interview, accept an offer and not appear on the first day, or an existing employee may simply stop attending work without notice.
