Young Lee Byun
Young Lee Byun is an attorney at Kim & Chang, specializing in environmental, health, and safety regulations. As a key member of the firm’s Environment Practice Group, she advises multinational corporations on regulatory issues across diverse sectors, including the automotive, consumer product, chemical, and life science industries.
Drawing on her extensive experience in the Korean regulatory landscape, Ms. Byun navigates complex safety and environmental regulations to provide strategic counsel on a broad range of corporate and regulatory matters. She frequently provides urgent legal assistance to global companies during high-stakes investigations by regulatory authorities.
Prior to her current role, Ms. Byun served as in-house counsel at prominent Korean conglomerates and as a legal expert for the Korean government. This background, spanning top-tier law firms, government, and corporate environments, allows her to provide practical and commercially-minded legal solutions.
Ms. Byun received her J.D., cum laude, from the University of Illinois College of Law. She also holds an LL.M. in International Transactions Law and an LL.B. from Ewha Womans University. She is a member of the New York Bar and is fluent in both Korean and English.
