Nicola has advised some of the world’s highest net-worth international families on contentious and non-contentious trust matters. She has spoken at international conferences, authored book chapters on trust law and written in prestigious publications, including Trusts and Trustees. 

Nicola who is Oxbridge-educated, was trained at Clifford Chance in London, giving her a solid grounding in commercial law. In the course of her career she has acted for Trustees, Protectors, Settlors, Beneficiaries and family offices, giving her a deep understanding of the dynamics of family trusts. 

Nicola has also acted as a director of exceptionally high-value private trust and holding companies, gaining valuable experience of making nuanced decisions involving complex family relationships and high-value financial and business assets to stringent fiduciary standards. 

Nicola has extensive experience of trust litigation, including some the highest value trust litigation ever conducted in Bermuda. 

Nicola’s experience extends beyond family trusts to substantial charitable and philanthropic trusts. 

Nicola has also been engaged by multinational groups and trustees to advise in relation to some of the world’s largest pension and employee benefit / share trusts. 

Finally, Nicola has been involved with trust law reform initiatives and has advised the Bermuda government on new trust laws.
