Vicky Wilson

Solicitor, Browne Jacobson
I have been dedicated to providing expert legal advice to schools since 2012. Specialising in Independent Schools, my expertise encompasses a range of critical areas including new school registrations, mergers, closures, reorganisations, and navigating regulatory frameworks with bodies such as the Department for Education (DfE), Ofsted, and the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI).

My legal acumen has been recognised in major legal directories: “Rising Star”, Legal 500 in 2021, and “Associate to watch”, Chambers & Partners for 2024.

Since joining Browne Jacobson in January 2023, I have carved a niche in advising independent schools and academies on pastoral issues, with a particular focus on safeguarding. I handle complex safeguarding cases, including serious case reviews and external investigations. My expertise also extends to complex parental complaints, family law issues pertinent to education, data protection, admissions, exclusions, and special educational needs.

I am an active contributor to the education legal community, frequently speaking at regional and national conferences as well as leading and contributing to webinars. Notably, I was invited to present at the Optimus Safeguarding Conference 2025 in London and Manchester and was a keynote speaker on complex safeguarding issues at our Browne Jacobson EdCon 2024.

Additionally, I have developed and delivered a comprehensive Complaints CPD training programme aimed at equipping school leaders to manage and resolve parental complaints effectively. My broad experience in commercial litigation and charity law further enables me to support schools in both contentious and non-contentious matters, ensuring they operate smoothly on a daily basis.
