Matthew Walker
Matthew Walker is an international arbitration, litigation, and dispute resolution partner who focuses on construction law. Matthew is recognized in Who's Who Legal as a Thought Leader for construction in Qatar, as well as recommended for arbitration. He was awarded Lexology's Client Choice Award for 2024 and 2025 for Arbitration & ADR in Qatar. He has been ranked in the UK by Chambers & Partners as Band 3 for Construction: International Arbitration (UK-wide) for 2025 and is recognized in The Legal 500 United Kingdom 2024 as a Recommended Lawyer for international arbitration, insurance litigation (policyholder), and construction: contentious and non-contentious.
He has acted as advocate and counsel in ICC, LCIA, UNCITRAL, ad hoc, and QICCA arbitrations in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Turkey, Hong Kong, India, and the United Kingdom, as advocate and co-counsel in cases before the Appellate Division of the Qatar International Court (QICDRC) and as co-counsel in cases before the Qatari state courts. He also litigates in the High Court, the Commercial Court, the Technology & Construction Court, and the Court of Appeal in England. He sits as arbitrator, including as President of the Tribunal, co-arbitrator, sole arbitrator, and on a panel of five arbitrators. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building and has been accredited as a Mediator by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors. Matthew is past Honorary Secretary of the Qatar & QFC Branch of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
