Angela Sandhal is a Director in the Public Law and Court of Protection departments at Duncan Lewis Solicitors, based in the Leeds office. She is recognised for her expertise in complex public law, mental capacity and health and welfare matters, with extensive experience representing vulnerable individuals, families, schools, institutions and interested parties in proceedings before the Court of Protection, Administrative Court, Tribunals and County Court.
 
Angela specialises in judicial review, administrative law, education law, equality law, mental capacity and civil litigation. Her public law practice focuses on challenges arising from public body decision-making, including Ofsted inspection outcomes, disclosure and barring appeals, equality and discrimination claims, and appeals before the Care Standards Tribunal. She is also experienced in representing university students, schools, academy trusts, nurseries and care providers in regulatory and education-related disputes.
 
Within the Court of Protection, Angela is highly regarded for handling the full spectrum of health and welfare disputes, including best interests decisions, deprivation of liberty safeguards, repatriation cases, Section 16 and Section 21A applications, and matters brought under the inherent jurisdiction of the High Court. She regularly acts for the Official Solicitor on behalf of P and represents individuals as an accredited legal representative. Angela has particular expertise in cases involving disputes between local authorities and families regarding care arrangements and placements, and has successfully challenged capacity assessments and deprivation of liberty orders.
