Anthony Johnson

Anthony Johnson is the General Editor of the 16th Edition of Binghams’ Personal Injury and Motor Claims Cases (2023) and a member of LexisNexis’ Consulting Editorial Board for the LexisPSL Personal Injury & Clinical Negligence module.

He specialises in personal injury and clinical negligence, along with related areas such as Fatal Accidents, motor insurance fraud and costs. He is recommended in personal injury/motor insurance fraud in the most recent editions of both the Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners. Chambers Guide 2023 says that he “has a sharp mind and is extremely personable” and “always has an eye on practical realities”, whereas the Legal 500 2023 describes him as having “a reputation for fearless and forceful advocacy.”

He endeavours to maintain an even split between Claimant and Defendant instructions. His practise focussed around High Court and Multi-Track litigation. He has extensive experience of higher value claims, having brokered favourable settlements in six- and seven-figure claims on numerous occasions. He regularly acts in cases involving complex medical evidence, including chronic pain, brain injury and mesothelioma claims. He has recent experience of cases involving, inter alia, employer’s liability, occupiers’ liability, the Highways Act 1980 and sports law. He has dealt with many appeals, up to an including at Court of Appeal level. He is an Accredited Mediator and an enthusiastic exponent of the benefits of Alternative Dispute Resolution.
