I9.422 Judgment debts

Judgment debts are situated where the judgment is recorded1. This is generally in the jurisdiction of the court making the judgment. If a foreign judgment is registered in the High Court, then on the principle that the situs of a debt is the place where it is principally enforceable, the situs of the judgment debt may change to the UK.
