Trusts are not usually appropriate to wills for young couples, especially ones with young children and/or modest assets, where the purpose of the will is to make provision against the possibility of early death of one of them. Here the importance of the survivor having maximum financial support is what is usually most important, and an absolute gift of all the first to die's property to the other spouse or civil partner will usually be preferred.
