D8.353 Receipts of value and amounts of value received

There are nine circumstances when the investing company is deemed to receive value1. In each of these circumstances, the legislation specifies the amount of value received2.

Action by the issuing companyAmount of value received
(1) Repays, redeems or repurchases any of its share capital or securities which the investing company owns, or pays the investing company for either giving up its right to any of the issuer's share capital or any security on its cancellation or extinguishment.The greater of the amount received or the market value of the shares or securities.
(2) Repays a debt owed to the investing company as part of any arrangement for acquiring the shares, where that date was incurred before the date of issue of the shares.The greater of the amount received or the market value of the debt.
