D7.1220 Additional deduction film tax relief

A film production company may claim an additional deduction in respect of qualifying expenditure1. For these purposes, 'qualifying expenditure' refers to core expenditure2 that would normally be taken into account3 in calculating the profit or loss of the trade for tax purposes4. The relief is claimed through the corporation tax return.

Amount of additional deduction

The amount of additional deduction available is determined according to whether the relief is being claimed in respect of the first period of account in which the trade is carried on.
