D7.1218 Qualifying conditions—films 'intended for theatrical release'

For a film to be 'intended for theatrical release', it must be intended for exhibition to the paying public at the commercial cinema1, and it must be intended that a significant proportion of its earnings must be derived from such an exhibition2.

There are special rules for determining whether this condition has been met in respect of each accounting period in which the film-making activities are carried on.

If, at the end of an accounting period, the film is intended for theatrical release, this condition is deemed to have been met throughout the accounting period3.
