Exhibition tax relief

D7.12103 Exhibition tax relief—qualifying conditions: overview

Exhibition tax relief takes two forms, additional allowable deduction and exhibition tax credit1. The additional deduction is the lower of the expenditure which is qualifying European expenditure (UK or EEA qualifying expenditure) or 80% of the total amount of qualifying expenditure2. The payable tax credit is 25% of losses surrendered if the exhibition is a touring exhibition or 20 percent otherwise3.

A company qualifies for exhibition tax relief if4:

  1.  

    (a)     it is the primary production company or a secondary production company

  2.  

    (b)     it is a charity which maintains a museum
