D1.239 Designated international organisations—issue of securities

Exemption from tax is given in respect of securities issued by designated international organisations of which the UK or any EC country is a member, provided that the membership agreement with the other country concerned provides for this type of relief. In addition, it is also possible to designate any of the three European Communities and the European Investment Bank and they were duly designated by statutory instrument1.

The following organisations have been designated:

  1.  

    (a)     Asian Development Bank2;

  2.  

    (b)     African Development Bank3;

  3.  

    (c)     European Economic Community4;

  4.  

    (d)     European Coal and Steel Community5;

  5.  

    (e)     European Atomic
