C2.126 HMRC procedure

HMRC have several specialist departments dealing with the valuation of various kinds of asset. Inspectors are instructed to refer to the appropriate specialist all cases where it is necessary to determine the market value of assets other than quoted shares (as to which see C2.122)1. This will be the case where an asset is transferred between persons who are not at arm's length or in other circumstances described in C2.109.
