B5.176 Dairy Farmers of Britain—tax treatment

HMRC issued guidance1 in January 2010 to individual members of the Dairy Farmers of Britain co-operative in respect of their shares and debt in the company, the shares having become of negligible value. The guidance addresses the tax treatment of sales to DFB and trade debts, and the extent to which capital losses are allowable. Further clarification of certain points was given in February 20102.
