B3.424 Interaction with other capital allowance codes

The general exclusion rules against double allowances1 apply. Under these rules where capital expenditure on the provision of an asset by any person has been included as qualifying expenditure under any particular code of capital allowances, no allowances may be made to him under any other code of capital allowances in respect of that expenditure or any further expenditure on the same asset2. This does not apply to allowances under the know-how and patent rights codes3. However, where expenditure may qualify under more than one code, the taxpayer
