B2.435 Export Credits Guarantee Department

Insurance is offered under the Export Credits Guarantee Department's scheme to protect overseas investments against risks of expropriation, war and currency inconvertibility. The scheme applies to assets of overseas branches but also to equity and loan capital in overseas companies1.

If a trader or a company pays a sum to the Export Credits Guarantee Department, the trader or company is allowed a trading deduction if the sum is payable1:

  1.  

    •     under an agreement entered into as a result of an arrangement under the Export and Investment Guarantees Act 1991, s 2 or
