A4.475 Miscellaneous payments

An individual who makes contributions to a registered pension scheme1 (formerly an approved personal pension scheme) is entitled to deduct tax at the basic rate from such contributions. With effect from 2016/17, and if the UK and Scottish rates diverge, Scottish basic rate taxpayers who are scheme members receive relief at the Scottish basic rate and the pension scheme claims relief at the Scottish basic rate.
