A4.127 Transfer of assets abroad

An HMRC officer may give notice1 to any person requiring such information as the officer may reasonably require for the purposes of preventing avoidance of income tax by the transfer of assets abroad2. In certain circumstances, such information may not be required from 'relevant lawyers'3 or banks4.

The information that may be required, and the exemptions and penalties for non-compliance, are described in Division E1.11.
