A1.813 Right of contribution

Contribution is a right conferred by the Civil Liability (Contribution) Act 1978, pursuant to which a defendant can seek to recover some or all of the damages for which he is liable to the claimant from other persons, based on that person's share in responsibility for the damage. Key to this is the principle that both parties must be responsible for the same loss.
