9.1.3     Employee privacy rights.

Privacy considerations impact not only the hiring process but also every aspect of the employment experience through termination. The US does not have a federal-level privacy law, similar to the EU's GDPR. Instead at the federal level, the US has a few subject-specific privacy laws such as HIPAA (for medical privacy) and COPPA (to protect children online).

There is a growing trend of individual data protection and privacy laws coming from the states. Massachusetts and California have notable state privacy laws.
