9.1     Employment legislation

The basic employment legislation in Uganda is the Employment Act 2006; the government Ministry tasked with overseeing the Act being the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development.

The following acts are important in establishing the relationship between employer and employee:

    •     The Employment and Labour Relations Act 2004

  4.  

    •     The Employment Regulations 2011

  5.  

    •     The Labour Disputes Arbitration and Settlement Act 2003

    •     The Workers Compensation Act Cap 225, Laws of Uganda 2000
