9.9     Workmen's compensation

The Workmen's Compensation Act 1960 Chap 88:05 makes legislative provision for workers to be compensated, where injured in the course of their employment and their duties within their job role. Such compensation is in recognition of the worker's inability to work and earn income.

The value of any compensation received is calculated using a prescribed formula based on the worker's earnings and a medical assessment of their disability. Any such compensation paid, would of course be provided by the insurer, compensating them for lost earnings up to a defined limit.
