3. Payroll and particular aspects of employee remuneration
3.1 Minimum wage and working hours
Minimum wage regulations in Trinidad and Tobago are provided for in the Minimum Wages Act 1976 Chap 88:04. The Act identifies the minimum wage as being TTD 17.50 per hour, but describes minimum wage workers as those earning an hourly wage of TTD 26.25 or less.
The Act does, however, dictate that minimum wage workers are entitled to overtime rates, which are expressly determined within the 'Second schedules' in the 'Wages Orders' relevant to the particular industry.
