5.2     Employee registration

Individuals living and working in Mexico must complete registrations. Some of these require presentation of a valid visa (see 9.4).

(unique population registration code)
This is issued at birth to Mexican citizens, and by application to temporary or permanent resident card holders. It is needed for many identification procedures including a driver's license. The validity of an existing CURP can be checked, but a new CURP for a newcomer is obtained by application to the local civil registry office. A list
